Fun at the Park!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love October? I especially love Wichita in October! The weather is absolutely perfect right now! It was in the mid-80s today! I had teacher in service all day, so when I got home, Ryan and I took Jack to the park, which is conveniently one block from our house! The park we went to is on Jack's and mine walking-route, and every time we walk by I think I should stop and let him play. Today he finally got the chance, and he had sooo much fun!

Teeter totter with Mom! We put his hands up in the air like this and say "sooo big!" I promise, he was holding on for the rest of the time!


Daddy doesn't fit in the slide so well. Maybe we'll try it with Mommy!


So, I am usually the one behind the camera, but since Ryan barely fit down the slide, I went with Jack and told Ryan to get some action shots of us on the slide. Enjoy the show....

My attempt at a family picture! Love my boys! We had so much fun today! Looking forward to many more trips to the park this fall.


In other news: Jack has mastered the sippy cup!! For a while there, I thought he might never get it!
On Sunday, Jack is going to Saige's 1st birthday party! He is VERY excited. But now that Saige is turning 1, you know what that means? Yep, Jack is next! Where has the time gone?
This feline friend here, seems to think that she can just hang out in our back yard whenever she wants! Nasty! For those of you who know me, know that I DO NOT like cats! Especially ones that hang around my house! Grrrrr. I snapped this picture today when we got back from the park.

Oh, and one more thing, my brother-in-law has started a blog about his deployment in Afghanistan! You can find a link to it on the right hand side of my page entitled 'Over There'. My in-laws and one of my sister-in-laws are with him now, and will be attending is send off ceremony. Please please please pray for Spencer's safety and for the safety of all the men and women protecting our country over seas!

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that!
