We had a fabulous house guest this past week, Hailee! I know Hailee through my college roomate, and bestie, Brooke. Hailee is driving all over the country promoting youth soccer, because September is Youth Soccer Month! She was in Wichita for a few days and stayed at our house. She is so fun to be around. You can't help but be in a good mood when Hailee is around. She is so upbeat and fun to talk to! Jack absolutely loved playing with her.

Hailee even came and spent a couple of hours with my class. She showed them pictures from her blog, as she spent the past year backpacking around Central America. She is fluent in spanish, and my little spanish-speaking students were in shock when she started talking to them in spanish!

Hailee is a VERY healthy eater and introduced us to a new food called Quinoa. Ever heard of it? She also showed me a variety of ways you can eat it. It was delicious in our stir fry. Then the next night, Hailee and I rolled our own sushi! It was sooo yummy! She bought most of the ingredients from the Asian Market, a place that I had never shopped before, but will definetly be going back!
More avocado please!

Jack News: He LOVES Dora the Explorer! I DVR'd a couple of the episodes and put them on for him while I'm getting his breakfast or dinner ready. He laughs and claps sometimes during the episodes. So cute!

Grandma Diane recently bought Jack some tennis shoes, and we put them on him the other day and practiced walking around. He was very unsure at first. These are the heaviest shoes he has ever worn. He eventually got the hang of it! He loves to try and walk around, and is cruising all over the furniture. He's going to be walking before I know it!

Adjusting slowly...

"Hmmm, this isn't so bad!"

Ryan and are trying some new healthy recipes today and tomorrow. Right now, we're working on some butternut squash soup (which even leaves extra squash to be made into baby food!) and tomorrow, Mexican Carnitas!

Later tonight, we're headed to a wedding, and of course the Hawks are on right now! Have a great weekend!
