Ashley at the zoo? And it's not a planned field trip with 25 first graders? Yes, that's right folks, I VOLUNTARILY went to the zoo today. For those of you who don't know, I am NOT an animal person, and especially especially HATE to be around birds. I am scared to death of them (yes, it's a real fear...don't believe me? Click here) When my girlfriend Lynn asked me to go with her and her kids, I was hesitant, but she got me in free with her family zoo pass, and Jack had never been, and we needed to get out of the house for a bit, so I thought why not? I sucked it up, put on my big girl pants, and went! Lynn agreed to be on bird patrol for me, and would walk between me and any geese, peacocks, ducks, or any other type of fowl that has free-range at the zoo, and are NOT afraid of people. Turns out, I survived! I probably won't be going back in the near future, and will probably leave zoo visits up to daddy, Arrena, or grandparents. Other than being incredibly hot, I actually had a good time! Jack was fussy at times, but enjoyed some of the exhibits (especially the ones that were indoors and had AC). He really liked the tigers and the gorillas. Thanks Lynn for a fun play date!!

This was in the amphibians and reptiles area...I think we are looking at some sort of slamander here, but don't remember for sure.

In other news: WE NOW HAVE A HIGH CHAIR!!!!! A special thanks to Grandma Diane and Grandpa Maury for giving us the money to get one! We tried to hold off as long as we could, because we don't have a lot of room in our apartment (speaking of which, our lease is up next month, and we aren't renewing, but thats a whole other blog for a different day...). Anywhere you can think of, we have probably fed Jack there. In the bumbo, in his carseat, on the floor (I have the stains to prove it), in the swing, on our laps, etc., etc., etc., And we couldn't hold off any longer. Now that Jack is eating solids, and putting food into his own mouth, it was time to get a high chair! He loves his new chair. He likes to pound repeatedly on the tray because it makes a loud noise. We bought one that wasn't gender specific, just incase there are baby girls in our future. A high chair is one of those things that you can use for all your kids! Even though its one more thing that takes up a lot of space, the purchase was well worth it!

Fun New Activities: Walking around the house on daddys feet! Also, you know the tube we use in the pool with Jack? He likes to be pulled around on the floor in that too. We load it up with some toys, say "toot toot" and we're on our way down the hall in the tube. We call it the "S.S. Jack". Jack is the boat captain!

I love this picture! Those chubby thighs are sooo ticklish! I can always get a giggle when I tickle them. This is daddy walking around with Jack on his feet.

One last thing...our babysitter, Dawn, has decided to go back to school to pursue a career in nursing, so she will not be babysitting anymore! I am happy for her, but not so happy to be starting the babysitter interview process all over again! We had an interview this afternoon and have another one tomorrow night! Pray for us that we will find the right person to watch over our precious baby!
