Jack and Jill

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, there isn't a whole lot to report on here. One good thing I am pleased to announce, is that we have found a babysitter!! We chose a lady named Jill (haha, get it? Jack & Jill), who we think is going to be great! We went and interviewed her last week and felt so comfortable in her home, and she was great with Jack. I have a 1/2 day inservice next week so he is going to go for a "get-to-know-Jill" day! And then, oh my goodness, I can't believe I'm saying this...the following week he will start full time! Where has the summer gone? It seems like just yesterday it was May and I was saying good bye to another class.

Ok, we need a subject change, I'm tearing up just typing that!

We are headed home to IA this weekend for the wedding of a couple that I went to high school with. And while we're there, we will of course get to see lots of family. Also, next Monday is mine and Ryan's 2 year anniversary!

Here is Jack trying to feed himself. I'm pretty sure the only thing that made it into his mouth was the spoon! Oh well, he's worth the clean up! His first top tooth has finally broken through his gums, and I can see one right next to it that looks like it will be coming through any day! Although teething means no sleep for anyone, it's still fun to see him grow! Today while I was at school, Jack fell asleep with his Baby Orajel in his hand...he was very prepared in case he woke up and needed it right away!

One more thing: Do you like the new look of the blog? Special shout out to Natalia, who is my fabulous header-maker! Need some inspiration? Check out Natalia's blog here.

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Lia opened her eyes today, and looked around the ...

Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that! Once again, thank you for all your continued support and prayer!  Don't we have an amazing God? These oral feedings r...
