Since our spare room is slowly turing into a nursery as well as a guest room, we decided to "makeover" the furniture that we already had in there. We ordered a black crib and changing table/dresser, so we decided to make the bed and dresser already in the spare room black as well! After some online research, and conversation with the staff at Home Depot, we completed a successful project!
Step 1: Wood filler. This dresser has been with me for a long time, through my childhood, up through college, and now down to Wichita! All that moving has made some wear and tear on the dresser, so we had to patch the rough spots with wood filler. Notice all the scratches!

Step 2: Sanding. Unfortunately, while all the sanding occured, I was at work, and didn't get to take any pictures!
Step 3: Priming. We had to do a lot of the work out on our small deck, which for those of you who've been here, know how small it is! Ahhhh, the joys of apartment living! We did a good job of making our space work though :)

Step 4: Painting. Like I said earlier, we chose a black paint to match the crib. We did most of the work in the morning, because the deck is shaded until noon, and the weather has been really hot here.

Ryan making sure I didn't miss any spots, and adding a second coat.

Our dining area became a rotation center for pieces that were done (or waiting for a second coat of paint), while the other pieces were being painted out on the deck!

The finished product, complete with some decor! I just had to get our wedding pic in there too! Looks like a whole new dresser! We decided to put in our room to make more room for the changing table.

I didn't put any pics of the newly painted bed on here, because I ordered a new comforter set for it, and it isn't here yet, so I didn't want to show it until it was all complete!
