Fun City

It's hard to believe that the last week of April is upon us!  I have a lot of pictures to share with you.  Last weekend we traveled to Washington and Burlington for a little weekend getaway.  My parents kept the kids while Ryan and I spent time with friends.  We stayed in Washington one night, and then traveled to Fun City in Burlington the next day.  It was a really good time, and great to be around friends.  I was oh so happy to get back to my littles though.

This weekend, Brent, Morgan, and Brynn came to Des Moines.  Brent, Ryan, and the rest of the family helped my grandparents move into their new place while Morgan and I kept the kids and did some shopping.  They are coming back next weekend too, for my Grandpa B.'s very last sermon, as he will be retiring!

Not a whole lot else to report on!  Enjoy the pictures!

with Abby and Rachel in Washington.  Will be back in Washington for Abby's wedding in June!!

Katy and I.  Friends since preschool.
Daredevil Jack
Mom!  The sun is so bright!
My favorite girl.

Us girls in Burlington.  I don't know what I'd do without them.

Enjoying some nice cosmic bowling.  My skills are less than great.

Fun City!

Look at that form!
Ryan had the dance fever.

Hard to believe Lia had her full repair a year ago last week!  What a difference a year makes!

Who doesn't love a Jimmy John's pickle?

With all the rain, we resorted to the mall play area.  Not my first choice, but it burned a lot of energy, the kids loved it, and I got an icee.  I'd say that's a win!

Lia longs for the day when she can do everything Jack does.  Including riding his bike.

Reading while sitting in a bucket.  Looks comfortable?

Escape Artist.

Roller skating using train cars.  Very inventive.

Lunch today with my sister and niece.  I love them both to pieces.  Can't wait for niece or nephew #2 to get here in the fall!

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Lia opened her eyes today, and looked around the ...

Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that! Once again, thank you for all your continued support and prayer!  Don't we have an amazing God? These oral feedings r...
