Nose Frida

Did the name of this title confuse you?  No, I didn't spell anything wrong, that's what it's called!  My new favorite baby product.  If you are expecting, or have a young child, this will be your best friend too!  It all started last weekend at a baby shower for my dear friend, Jamie.  She received a gift, from my dear friend, Lindsay,...the Nose Frida!

Before you continue reading this blog, I do need to give you fair warning...there are boogers involved.  If they gross you out, you might not want to continue.

Ok, so you're still reading, so I take it you don't mind the boogers?  Great! 

You know those horrible bulb syringes that we use to suck the snot and boogers out of our wee ones noses?  They aren't great.  In fact, their horrible.  They stink, are hard to clean, and their one and only job, which is to get the boogers OUT, never seems to work!  Well, the mommies over in Sweden must agree too, because they have a new product out! 

When I first heard about the Nose Frida I was totally grossed out, because it involves your babies nose, a tube, and your mouth.  Yes, that's right.  Your MOUTH.  Just the thought of it is enough to make you gag a little. 

When I was at Buy Buy Baby this week, picking up some neon band aids (because no other kind will do...thanks Jill!) I saw it and just had to get it!  After I got home and tried it, I loved it!  It (or actually me) sucked those darn things right out of Lia's nose!  So, Lindsay, thank you so much for introducing this mommy to Nose Frida!

NoseFrida.  The picture on the package says it all...

You insert the end into your babies nose, put the other end in your mouth, and SUCK!  Don't worry, the boogers will never get to you because there is a filter that prevents it from going all the way up there.  I know it appears as if Lia is being tortured in this picture, but I promise you, she wasn't!

See the product in there?  Ewwwww!  Good thing it's dishwasher safe!

Jack and I painted with sweetened condensed milk mixed with food coloring last Friday (thanks for the idea, Pinterest)!  It was so fun, and it dries very glossy and pretty!

And look who rode in the cart for the first time this week!  She LOVED it.  Shes growing up too fast!  She'll be 7 mo old next week!

We use comfy nose for Brynn. Same idea as nose frida. I agree so much better than the bulb syringe!

I have heard amazing things about that nose sucker. Actually heard its easier on their lungs.

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that!
