Spring Break in Iowa!

We took off for home (Iowa) last Friday, and spent the first half of our spring break with family and friends. Ryan and I had bachelor and bachelorette parties to attend on Saturday night, so Jack got in lots of quality time with his grandparents (on both sides), great grandmas and grandpas, cousins, and aunts and uncles!

Disclaimer: My camera is pushing daisies, so I've been taking pics on my ipod. When the lighting isn't the best, the pics don't turn out the best. You'll see what I mean below...

Jack, Noah, Zach and Grandpa Maury built a tent using the dining room table and chairs. Somehow, Grandpa ended up asleep in the tent. HILARIOUS!


And while I'm posting pictures of people sleeping, I just HAD to throw this one in there...so glad you captured this, Sarah!


How does Morgan feel about Ryan sleeping with her doll? I think the picture says it all.


Meanwhile, back in Norwalk, Jack had lots of fun with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Jeff too!

A special visit from Great Grandma B. and Great Grandpa B.!

Grandma Sue thought she would take a try at setting Jack on the big potty. While it made for a cute photo op, I don't think we'll be pursuing this quite yet.

Jack played hard with Grandpa Jeff, so he needed a quick nap.


We headed back to Wichita on Tuesday morning. Jack thought he needed every possible toy we brought in the car on his lap.


And since he was such a good boy for the ride home, we took him to Freddy's for some frozen custard. As you can tell by the pic, he loved it.
On the agenda for the rest of our week off?
-Haircut for Jack
-Wardrobe change-out for Jack
-Some spring cleaning
-Lawn mowing (we're the only house on the block who hasn't mowed yet!)
-Arrena's birthday party
-And lots and lots of laying around, playing with toys, and relaxing!
I plan on posting some pics of the bachelorette party later this week!

Jack is getting so big! I need to see him soon! Hopefully I'll make it over to Des Moines while mom and dad have him in a little over a week!!

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that! Once again, thank you for all your continued support and prayer!  Don't we have an amazing God? These oral feedings r...
