May Madness

May is flying by for us! Here is an update from all three of us.

Jack: I can't believe my baby is 6 months old! We go in for his 6 mo. appointment with Dr. Hesse on Friday. He has gotten very good at sitting up, and is cutting his very first tooth! Yes, he got ANOTHER hair cut! His hair grows so fast! He looks much older and very handsome with his new haircut. He was such a good boy and sat very well while Stacy cut his hair.

Showing off his new hair cut to Arrena

Trying to impress Saige...I don't think its working though.

Goodnight Moon...One of Jack's favorite bedtime stories! (This picture is pre-haircut, you can see how shaggy it was getting)

Ryan: Officially a college graduate! The job hunt is well underway. Keep your fingers crossed that something pans out!

Ashley: I turned 26 last week. My students did lots of nice things for me! We had a fun time celebrating at school. Ryan made me a FABULOUS dinner and I spent a nice evening home with my boys! It was a perfect birthday.

Dena brought her new puppy to school for my birthday! Isn't he cute? Dena's little sis hopped in the pic too.

Dena's mom also ordered cupcakes for the class. How nice! White cupcakes with white frosting, my favorite!

Class picture for my b-day. They are all very excited that in only three more days they will officially be SECOND graders!!

Kalee wrote me a song. She sang it for the entire class. It was very sweet.
We are very excited for our trip to KC next weekend with Ryan's family. It will be so nice to see them. I am finished with school on Thursday, which means that for 10 whole weeks I get to be a stay at home mom, and I am SO excited!

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Lia opened her eyes today, and looked around the ...

Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that! Once again, thank you for all your continued support and prayer!  Don't we have an amazing God? These oral feedings r...
