Lucky Charms and Watermelon

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged last! Our internet has been down for a few days, we were in Iowa over the weekend, and I was busy finishing up the last few days of school late last week! Speaking of....I'm sooo happy that school is out! Hooray for summer vacation!

I am 16 weeks pregnant today! We had a doctors appt. yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat again. It's sooo cool to hear that! It took the doctor longer to find the heartbeat this time, so I got nervous for a couple of seconds, but once he found it, he said that it sounded great! Next time we go, we will have our first sonogram and get to find out if we're having a boy or a girl! I can't wait! Once we find out the sex, we will be able to buy clothes and start doing some serious baby shopping! I am still getting nauseous a few nights a week, and throwing up every now and then. My doctor told me that some women are just really unlucky and are nauseous through their entire pregnancy! He wrote me another prescription for the nausea meds I've been taking...miracle drugs!

I have only gained 1/2 a lb. since my last appt. 5 weeks ago, so I'm doing pretty good in the weight dept. I think I have my nausea to thank for that. I am drinking so much milk it's ridiculous! I crave a nice, tall, cold, glass of milk ATLEAST 4 or 5 times a day! So much so that Ryan and I buy 3 gallons at a time when we are at the store! (I'm not drinking all of it...Ryan helps too!) I have cravings that last for a couple days, but nothing that has lasted the entire pregnancy yet. For example, the past couple of days I have really been enjoying Lucky Charms (which I haven't eaten since I was probably 6) and a nice juicy watermelon! Ryan sliced one up for me and I've been nibbling on it off and on! Last week it was mashed potatos, and the week before that it was hot pockets! Weird....I know.

While we were home last weekend, I went to Morgans bachelorette party! I am attaching a pic of her all done up below. Brooke came down from Clarion to go too. It was great to see her. We will be heading back, again, a week from today for the wedding! Hard to believe it's already here!

9 1/2 Hours

9 1/2 hours until my sweet baby girl goes in for her third open heart surgery.  This isn't just any surgery.  It's a big one.  This surgery would be a big deal for a 40 year old.  So you can imagine the seriousness and high risk on a 3 week old.  I am nauseous and scared.  I pray with all my heart that her little body can handle the intensity and recovery involved with something this big.  The nurses have prepared us for the worst, which I am thankful for, but am remaining optimistic and strong in faith.  They have told me that she will be VERY sick for several days following her surgery.  She may even come back to her room in the PICU still on bypass.  Even if she doesn't come back on bypass, she could still go back on it a few days later.  In addition to all her machines and medicines now, she will also come back with a pacemaker, and possibly the ECMO (bypass) machine. Praising God!!!

Lia has had a REALLY good 24 hours! She passed her carseat test! Has taken ALL her feedings orally! Feeding tube is OUT! Breathing treatments have been cancelled! Ryan and I have started a 24 hr PCS (parent care status) where we are completely in charge of all feedings and medications.  The nurse will only check on us periodically. This is done to make sure we will be able to handle everything at home. NO MONITORS!  I just walked into our bathroom with Lia...simply because I COULD! Pharmacy has come to talk to us about all her prescriptions, and how to administer all medications. Got a basket ready for all the 'skimming' supplies I'll need for home. Arrangements have been made for follow up care with cardiologist and pediatrician! Discharge, yes, I said it, DISCHARGE scheduled for Tuesday!  Ok, I'm crying now that I just typed that!
